Introduction
The St James College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SJCOPS) and St James Hospital Trust Pharmaceutical Research Centre (SJHTPRC) are committed to research and development (R&D) activities in the field of Pharmaceutical research with an objective of becoming a centre of excellence. Areas of research interest are novel synthetic anti-tubercular drugs, cancer biology, tissue engineering, Biomaterials and nano-drug delivery system. St James Hospital Trust Pharmaceutical Research Centre (SJHTPRC)having DSIR (Dept. of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) certification from New Delhi.

To become a recognized Centre of Research Excellence in the area of pharmaceutical sciences and technology for the growth of herbal industry as well as pharmaceutical industry in Kerala.
Mission
Our Centre being research oriented, we utilize every opportunity to fulfill our goal through collaborating with the industries and other external funding agencies to conduct the research activities and to apply the advances in scientific knowledge to the relevant fields of work.
Objective
- Develop technology transfer for Industrial pharmaceutical products (synthetic drugs, and nano-formulations of drug)
- Continuing education programme to the researcher on recent strategies development in the field of pharmaceutical research
- Boost-up the research experience by training the students, researcher and teachers for the industry.
- Publishing research/review article in Journal of Pharma Innovative Research [JPIR] of NEXSUS Alumni Association of SJCOPS
- Establishment of pharmaceutical research consultancy
- National collaboration research with pharma industries
- Conducting programmes on community pharmacy
Research Policy:
- To encourage undergraduate/postgraduate students research activities.
- To conduct of workshop and seminar/symposium to update scientific knowledge for students and faculty members.
- To promote and coordinate research in healthcare system.
- Submission of research projects for financial assistance under suitable scheme of funding agencies.
- To coordinate in publication of research/review manuscript
- To promote industry-institution collaborative research work
Duties of Research Committee
- Aware of research schemes of various funding agencies
- Monitor periodically advertisement of research projects from funding agencies and inform to all faculty members
- Help the faculty member in need of preparing research proposal
- Help the faculty member in need of drafting research article as per journal guidelines
- Identify potential research area considering local/society needs
- Collection of the followings from faculty members and documentation in a presentable form (Publications, Seminar & Conference Certificates)
- Scientific Publication in Journals/Magazine
- Research Papers presented in conferences
- Details of conference, seminar attended
- Details of conference, seminar conducted
- Awards and honors received by the faculty members
